64 Year Old Assault During Robbery: Verulam-KwaZulu Natal
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to a residence in Valdin Crescent, Temple Valley, after receiving a call from a frantic female requesting assistance after they had been robbed.
Upon arrival, Officers were informed that two elderly females were alone in the residence when two African male suspects forced their way into the home. One suspect was armed with a knife and attacked the 63 year old female who fought back. His accomplice approached the second female, who had recently been discharged from hospital after undergoing an operation to her spine, an forced her to the ground. The elder female continued to fight of her attacker until he assaulted her on the head with the handle of the knife. Both suspects fled after stealing a tablet. The victim noticed the suspects driving off in a silver VW Polo with registration ND 60835.
The 64 year old bled profusely from an open wound to her head and was treated on scene by paramedics however she declined further medical attention. The second female was transported to hospital after she complained of pains to her chest.
